Vintage Paint By Number Paintings

Lulu1 Comment

The paint by number phenomenon was created by an artist named Dan Robbins and the owner of Palmer Paint Company Max S. Klein.
In 1951 the Palmer Paint Company began selling paint by number sets under the label Craft Master.
The paint by number kits included up to ninety paints with numbers printed on them that corresponded to the numbers printed on the canvas and two brushes to apply the paint with.
Subject matter ranged from idyllic countryside scenes to Leonardo da Vinci's The Last Supper.
My personal favorites are the ones that feature bold colors and fun subject matter such as the ones I have found to share with you today...

The pink flamingo picture posted above is one of two paint by numbers paintings up for auction.
