When we visited the Corn Palace in Mitchell, South Dakota they were switching out their designs for the year from U.S. monuments to modes of transportation. It was a neat time to visit because we could see tacked on the building the sketches that they had done on paper of the new designs that they would then staple different colors of corn to, kind of like paint by numbers- but, instead of paint they use colorful corn.

Inside of the building we both really enjoyed the designs that Oscar Howe, a South Dakota Native American, created. In his murals he portrayed diverse subject matter such as outer space, nursery rhymes, Native American designs, conservationism and environmentalism...
