These Are The Bags of My Life...

LuluComment

This week I thought I would devote the majority of my posts to things that I (or my husband) own and like.

Such as bags. For the past several months I have found all sorts of fun reusable bags...

Kimono Momo bag made out of vintage kimonos. I found this bag at a local thrift store recently- but, I fell in love with it years ago. There was a store in the Pearl District section of town that sold Asian antiques and Asian inspired items. I happened to visit the store one time when they were having a show of these bags. I fell in love with the beautiful kimono textiles- but, was not able to splurge and buy a bag at that time. The store that sold these bags closed, and the beauty of the bags faded from my mind until I came across this one that was in immaculate condition at a local thrift store. I was incredibly delighted to find this gorgeous bag...

Morrissey bag. At the end of November of last year I used some of the money from my Pop Up Shop to buy Morrissey tickets for me and Chris. Morrissey and The Smiths were one of many things we had bonded over when we first met. I had seen Morrissey once before in the late 90's and was disappointed by the show. This time around Morrissey put on the show of a lifetime. He was energetic, charming, handsome, an incredible showman! At the previous concert I had been to I bought a magnet with Morrissey on it (but, now looking back on it I wish I would have bought a pillowcase with Morrissey on it instead of the magnet, oh well). I was happy to find that at the November 2009 concert they had Morrissey bags. I hadn't seen bags for sale at a concert before and was happy that there was something other than a t-shirt to come away from the show with...

Michelle Obama "First Lady of Fabulous" bag. I am so happy that there is a stylish First Lady! Michelle Obama has a classic sense of style the likes of we haven't seen since Jackie Kennedy. Michelle Obama often chooses vintage inspired attire. Not only is she stylish she also seems kind, smart, fun and fun loving- thus my love for this bag...

Red plaid English oil cloth bag. Almost since I first started buying vintage clothing and accessories I have owned at least one of these chic and durable reusable bags. Currently I own one that's purple with a green apple on it (the handles are ragged from years of use), a Harrod's department store one with a Flapper graphic on it, a union jack one that I bought in England and now I have this one. They are perfect for carrying magazines and books...

Totoro bag. I was introduced to the movie Totoro by my beloved friend Naoko. Before Naoko moved back to Japan she was the owner of my sweet cat Olive. Olive's favorite toy was a Totoro coin purse. Eventually both of Totoro's eyes fell off from too much love from Olive. When I found this Totoro bag in Bend I knew I had to have it...

Caesar on the Totoro bag. What happens when you put a square or rectangular piece of fabric or paper on the ground when a cat is around? They think it's there for them to get cozy on...

Buffalo Exchange bag. I found this bag at a thrift store in Bend. It is just like the type of reusable bags that I have been picking up for years second hand. These type of bags are invaluable for shopping for vintage clothing, accessories and fabric at rummage and estate sales...
