***2nd Anniversary***

Lulus2nd_2

Today marks the 2 Year Anniversary of Lulu’s Vintage Blog, “The Retro Retreat for the Fashion Elite”
It all started when my brother was designing my website and suggested that I have a blog about vintage clothing. I did research and found that no such blog existed. During my research I had come across vintage clothing websites that had blogs- but, all they would write about would be what new items they had posted on their store site.
So my vision for Lulu’s Vintage Blog was a site where I would act as a vintage shopping editor. Picking what I felt to be the best of the web to share with you. Along the way I have learned a lot of things and I hope that you have too!
Thank you for being such dedicated readers!
I hope that you have enjoyed and will continue to enjoy Lulu’s Vintage Blog!
If you have any suggestions as to what you would like to see more or less of on my blog please let me know.
    Thank You!
    Lulu

***Top 10 Reasons to give Vintage Gifts this Holiday Season***

Givevintage1

10- It is the ultimate eco-gift! No landfill packaging. No new use of resources or labor.

9- Craftsmanship. Vintage items were made out of high quality materials and feature unique design details.

8- History. You are buying an item that has proved to be fashionable throughout history.

7- History (part 2). It is fun to own something vintage and think of how a person from a whole other generation appreciated it as well.

6- Uniqueness. No chance of hitting the streets with a new scarf only to see three other people with the same one!

5- Supporting a small business. Instead of lining the pockets of big box stores, you can support an independent business owner.

4- Authenticity. Why buy rip-offs of old designs, when you can get the original.

3- Authenticity (part 2). Why buy something that has been "distressed" to look old when you can get something that has genuine patina.

2- Save some cash. Vintage items are often times much less expensive than new.

1- Don't participate in the mad rush to the mall. Vintage is easy to find off the beaten path.

New Month Long Theme for December...

Join me tomorrow as I launch into a month long theme for my posts!

September 04, 2007

Labor Day

Hello Readers,
You may have wondered why there wasn't a post yesterday.
My husband and I spent our Labor Day weekend laboring on our very first house (which we received the keys to just this last Friday night).
We ripped out the carpet, pried old linoleum off the floors, rented a sander and began sanding the wood floors, scrubbed cabinets, weeded the yard...
Because of all the hubbub of working on our house and moving- my posts may be a bit spotty. So, please forgive me!
Everything should be back to normal by October!
Thanks, Lulu

Psst...

Anniversary1
Wake up!
It's The One Year Anniversary of Lulu's Vintage Blog!

Lulu's Vintage Blog, "The Retro Retreat for the Fashion Elite" is celebrating its 1 Year Anniversary today!
During the past year I have created 690 posts on vintage items ranging from telephone purses to paper dresses
When I started my blog I wanted to do something different from any other blog that I had seen. I wanted to be a sort of personal vintage shopper and run my own vintage magazine, scouring the internet for the best men's and women's vintage clothing and accessories. Initially I would post one vintage item, but then I found that that wasn't challenging enough so I started to post three similar vintage items (and on occasion more than three). It has kept me busy but I have really enjoyed doing it. (To learn more about my blog click on About Lulu's Vintage)
I want to thank all of you my dedicated readers! I hope that you have enjoyed and will continue to enjoy Lulu's Vintage Blog.
Thank You!
